Hello
Welcome to my blog!

6 Tips on How to Take Good Care of Your Lips

I am sure most ladies will never forget to go for a facial or mani/pedi but will occasionally forget to take good care of their lips which is also very key. It was not until my lips started having dark patches after using a certain brand of lipstick I will not disclose, that I realized the importance of a lip scrub. You can imagine what I have been going through for the past few weeks trying to clear the dark patches on my lips..sigh. Good news is my lips are finally starting to get back to normal.

So today I will basically be giving you a few tips on how to take good care of your lips.

1. Make it a habit to frequently scrub your lips
Don't get me wrong though, by frequently here I do not mean every day otherwise your lips will be sore but instead try at least thrice a week. You could purchase a lip scrub from a cosmetic shop but be sure to get the right product.

A home made lip scrub could also work as opposed to buying one. Just mix a tea spoon of sugar, tea spoon of honey and a few drops of lemon and ensure it becomes paste after which you can go ahead and apply it on the lips. Lemon is actually known to lighten so in case you are struggling with dark lips as I did a few weeks ago, then this is just but the perfect solution! You can thank me later.

2. Avoid licking your lips
Yes, you heard me right. Licking your lips damages the protective barrier which leads to drying of lips no wonder people who lick their lips will never stop.

3. Drink a lot of water
Water is good for your body, skin and even the lips. It keeps them hydrated all day, every day.

4.  Invest in a good lip balm which has sun protection.
Did you know that your lips lack Melanin which is supposed to protect them from sun protection? So make sure you invest in one with sun protection. (Try Nivea Lip Care, Neutrogena Lip Moisturizer or Palmers Cocoa Butter Moisturizing Lip balm)

5. Always apply Vaseline or lip balm before you go to bed.
Vaseline is perfect for moisturizing and softening your lips.

6. Once in a while, ditch the Matte Lipsticks for Hydrating lipsticks. Personally, when I first wore Matte Lipstick I was super excited of the fact that once you put it in the morning then you don't have to be worried about reapplying it every now and then. And then again you don't have to worry about staining cups and glasses. :-) However ladies, minimize on the Matte Lipsticks because all they do is just dry your lips which may lead to cracking.

So ladies, no excuses for chapped lips!

Hope you learnt something.
