  • Hi.. I'm Linda Otiende; a Personal Style Blogger. I think fashion and style is all about creativity; playing around with what you have to create something unique and stylish out of it. Blogging about my personal style is an interest I developed about three years ago when I discovered that as ladies, we really go to certain extremes to look good. Yes, we gotta look good but at the end of the day that does not mean that we have to wear the most expensive clothes or shoes to be stylish. You can actually work it out in the cheapest of them yet still ooze class! So welcome to my blog where I will get to show you my personal style and how I manage to look good on a budget. I do hope you enjoy.

Morning all..? So its almost a wrap for 2014 *does the happy dance* :-D This has most definitely been a year of favor for me and I have absolutely every reason to thank God. It has been 6 months since I started blogging and  it hasn't been easy but thanks to God and the support and encouragement I have received from all of you I made it!:-)

For all of you who have been tirelessly reading my blog despite a few now and then boring posts, big up..:-) All those who've taken their time to comment whether bad or good I appreciate. Cheers to my photographers, Wambo and Terry..You are the best! I believe 2015 is most definitely my year to shine and I hope to officially make you an addict of lindasworldoftyle:-):-) So as I close I want to wish you all a Prosperous 2015 and may the Almighty see you through the New Year in good health, joy and happiness.

Here are my favorites from 2014...

Christmas is just a day away...*yaaaiy* However, many of us may not even have a reason to celebrate. Why? There may be no one to celebrate with or perhaps Christmas  suddenly lost its meaning. Its no longer the day you'd travel up-country to celebrate it with the extended family. It has become like any other public holiday for some of us. Most of us would rather stay indoors and celebrate it alone yet at the end of the day you don't quite realize that the gift of family or more so sharing is key.

You may argue that you have no loved ones to celebrate it with yet at the end of the day you don't quite realize that even taking a kilo of unga to a neighbor who may not have or just visiting a children's home with a sack of rice is Christmas in itself because you have shared and you've put a smile on someones face.

So in the true spirit of Christmas, spread it to others. Christmas doesn't have to be watered down into just a holiday season for making merry because it lives in your heart and what you do with it really matters. Take delight in finding new ways to be generous and kind.

Smile and say “Merry Christmas” and don’t worry about what anyone may think. Take some time and think of the gift of life; a gift renewed every moment because its not only a time of rejoicing but also a time to reflect.

So even as you celebrate this season with your loved ones remember that its also a time when you can sit down, reflect and look back on the year that has passed and be prepared for what's ahead.

So I take this opportunity to wish you, my lovely reader a Merry Christmas. Thanks for being a faithful reader and let's remember the reason for the season.

    Much Love
    xx

A happy new month to all of you. Hasn't the year gone so fast? You obviously have to agree with me on that. Just the other day I was busy making unreasonable New Year resolutions that up to now I still haven't accomplished yet we are already wrapping up the year. Do these things ever work for you? For me since 2011 I have been having the same New Year resolutions and up to now I have never even accomplished any. I remember when the year started I was telling myself I would exercise every day and eat healthy yet a few days later I was indulging in unhealthy foods. I salute you who always stick to their resolutions because it's not easy after all.

All the same, time has really flown and for me this has been a year of great things owing to the fact that I finally managed to start my own blog, finish my 8-4-4 and graduate and guess what? I learnt how to play the guitar. I can't really say am good at it but the fact that I can actually play a number of songs makes it an accomplishment for me. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll be calling you to one of my gigs..Talk of valid dreams..:-) All in all as the year ends I believe you have something positive to remember about 2014.

Back to my post for today, I will be continuing with my series of the Purple Midi-Skirt by showing you my second look; a look you can rock to a wedding only that I did not include a clutch purse to finish the look but I hope you like it. Here are the details...

I must say the past week has been one of its kind especially with the cold Nairobi weather. Talk of those bad mornings you get to work in muddy shoes and all the effort you took in looking smart goes into waste just like that..:-( Am actually nursing a cold at the moment as I write and its just not what I need now..! All the same I want to believe you are fine. So today I have some great news to share with you guys. Guess what?? I finally graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology..Yes you heard me right! It feels so good to be done with the 8-4-4 system and I must say that it hasn't been so easy but all thanks to God I successfully finished.

Back to my post for today, I decided to try three different looks with one skirt and I'll be featuring one of the looks today...the Casual Look..

You must agree with me that today was such a hot day..hot enough to just want to sit at home and not leave the house lest you get those sunburns that make your skin peel. Ladies its time you invested in a good sun protection lotion or else you won't like what you will be seeing in the mirror in the coming days. This is actually the time to rock those fancy hats and maxi dresses. Don't I just love this weather?:-)

Let me hope y'all are fine and your weekend is off to a great start. Today I decided to go casual and here's my outfit of the day..

This pair of pants is one of my best especially coz of the leather detail on the sides that makes it stand out..:-)

And then we have these awesome pair of shoes from BATA which have lasted for quite a while now and I must say they are the best,,so comfortable!

I must admit that blogging isn't quite the easy task as I had imagined it to be especially when it comes to writing interesting posts that will actually make a reader look forward to more. There is always that tendency of giving up once you've started thinking that guys probably won't like it or the thought that there are other bloggers doing better than you are but at the end of the day I have realized that you have to take that step of faith and believe in yourself. There may be something unique about your blog that another doesn't have and for sure that is what has motivated me. All the same I believe you are all keeping up well. So today was that denim kinda day and I decided to rock denim on denim..

Guys you have to pardon me coz of my usual boring background in which I take my pics. Am sure most of you now know every corner of our compound but I promise you the best is yet to come and for sure more professional photos are coming your way.

All the same I want to believe that you are ok and are enjoying the hot Nairobi weather as I am. So today's post is inspired by the trending tulle skirt. I came across this dress while I was taking my friend shopping and it caught my eyes coz of the soft tulle material the lower part was made of. However, it looks like chiffon from a far but once you feel it it has that 'Tulleness' (ok I don't know if such a word exists but who cares anyway?!) and I ended up buying it thanks to my convincing friend. Talk of impulse shopping ladies!

Anyway I decided to give the dress two looks and here are the outfit details..

For the second look I threw in a black sleeveless crop top and added a belt and accessorized the look with a pearl necklace.

Hey lovely reader? So from my previous blog post you must have noticed the excitement I had with the hot weather having come back. To my surprise, today I woke up and the clear sky was no more..just grey clouds. Talk of disappointments. Just when I thought the cold weather was no more it suddenly comes back from nowhere.

Anyway I think I have complained enough and I just have to deal with it and be ready for anything though I must confess that it completely disorganizes me. I especially pity those ladies who prepare for the following day the night before and because you know it has been hot then you put aside light clothes and when you wake up it suddenly is cold! My mum is a victim! However for her whether its cold or not she will just put on what she had in mind for the day.

And the hot weather is finally here I hope to stay. I am so excited because that means its time to ditch the heavy sweaters, scarfs and jeans. God knows how much of a burden it is to put on so many layers of clothes.!

Today's post title was inspired by Lana Del Rey's song, 'Summertime Sadness' but am not sad.:-) I was actually listening to it as I was writing this post and I thought to myself since my outfits are summer-inspired why not just call it 'Summer Time Sadness'. So today I opted to step out in a maxi skirt and a vest and embrace the hot weather as it is.
